Of all teams, shouldn’t the Tigers know better?
The Tigers gave Prince Fielder a 9 year, $214 Million (or something) contract. The Tigers used to have Cecil Fielder. Shouldn’t they know how this story turns out? Hahahahahaha.
Added: Cecil was awesome. For exactly 2 years. In 1990 and 1991, when he was age 26 and 27 he had VORPs of 46.2 and 34.6. Then he turned 28 and the decline started. His VORPs over the next 5 years with the Tigers were 15.7, 10.6, 10.8, 9.7 and 5.5. (As a point of reference, Yuniesky Betancourt has a career average VORP of 10 and we can all agree he sucks). It got even worse after that. Prince has had a better career than Cecil thus far with VORPs of 45.1, 25.3, 57.3, 28.7 and 51.0 over the last 5 years. But… he he turned 27 last season. Just saying
